Ethan Zachary Holder Way was co-named with East 52nd and Avenue M in Brooklyn in June 2023 as a result of our organization’s efforts to commemorate Ethan Zachary Holder’s legacy. This meaningful memorial honors Ethan for his lifelong commitment to music and education and for his positive influence on the neighborhood. Locals, teachers, and municipal officials all came together for a shared moment of naming at the co-naming event.
Scholarships of more than $5,000 were given to worthy students belonging to underprivileged areas of New York City by The Music of Ethan’s Heart Inc. in June 2023. Michael, one of the scholarship winners, was hoping to become an engineer someday but was worried that he couldn’t afford the education he needed. Michael could attend a summer STEM program that spoke to him because of our organization’s funding. He obtained important skills that would serve him well in his future studies via the program’s emphasis on experiential learning.
Michael was able to focus more intently on his engineering career after receiving the scholarship, which helped his family financially. With the self-assurance and tools he needs, Michael is making progress toward his academic objectives today. His life exemplifies how targeted financial aid can level the playing field for students from disadvantaged backgrounds and help them realize their aspirations.
Children at P771K who are non-verbal autistic have benefited greatly from music therapy, as we at The Music of Ethan’s Heart Inc. have seen personally. The tale of Sarah, a seven-year-old student who had difficulty interacting with her classmates at first, is an uplifting example of this. Sarah found a newfound talent for musical expression with our rigorous music therapy curriculum. Sarah made incredible strides throughout her therapy sessions,
which lasted for many months. She was supervised by trained music therapists with the help of our organization. She gained self-assurance, started talking to her peers more often, and started making new friends in class. Sarah’s story exemplifies the need for individualized educational assistance for children with exceptional needs and the transforming power of music in removing communication barriers. Sarah’s story inspires us to keep giving kids like her access to the educational and therapeutic tools they need to succeed and realize their full potential.
